Rescue Technician – Trench
Purpose
The purpose of this program is to
identify emergency service personnel who demonstrate competency in the
performance requirements necessary to perform the duties of a Trench
Rescue Technician. The NFPA 1006 Standard for Technical Rescuer
Professional Qualifications Professional Qualifications identifies the
minimum requirements for a rescuer at the Trench Rescue specialty level.
A person certified at the Trench Rescue Technician level will have
demonstrated competency in the necessary knowledge and skills, to
construct size-up of collapsed trench, identify type and degree of
collapse, implement trench emergency action plan, construct load
stabilization systems, select appropriate PPE, lift load and gain assess
to patients, coordinate the use of heavy equipment and place shoring
and shielding systems.
