36th Annual PA State Weekend July 22-23, 2017
This Annual Weekend Program, offered exclusively for the emergency services personnel of Pennsylvania, is a joint venture of the National Fire Academy (NFA) Field Programs Division, the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy (PSFA), and the Pennsylvania Fire & Emergency Service Institute (PFESI) as a co-sponsor.  The NFA hosts the state weekend in Emmitsburg, Maryland and provides the instructors and course materials.  The PSFA selects the courses, recruits and registers the participants according to established PSFA student selection criteria. 
PA weekend and course details.  The application process will be open March 6 through June 1, 2017.
Without an approved form of ID, access to the campus for students, instructors, or state representatives will be denied.
The REAL ID Act passed by Congress in 2005 establishes minimum security standards for state-issued IDs (such as driver’s licenses). For Pennsylvania residents, that Act becomes effective June 6, 2017. This means Pennsylvania firefighters planning to attend the PA State Weekend in July 2017 will need to present another form of ID other than their state issued driver’s license/identification card to access to the National Emergency Training Center (NETC) which houses the NFA.
Acceptable forms of ID include a valid Federal PIV (Personal Identity Verification) card, military ID (active, retired, reserve, dependent, civilian employee), U.S. passport, U.S. passport card, or Transportation Worker’s Identification Card (TWIC).
The PSFA continues to seek a resolution to this issue, but if not resolved an alternative form of ID will be required.
