National Apparatus Standards
 
Ambulance Standard Certification
The Rules & Regulations for the Volunteer Loan Assistance Program requires that any ambulance - new, used or rehabilitated - shall comply with the requirements of the United States Department of Transportation/National Highways Traffic Safety Administration as described in “Federal Specifications - Ambulances; KKK-A-1822F in existence at the time of the application.
 
The vehicle manufacturer or authorized agent will be required to guaranty, certify and warrant that the vehicle meets or exceeds standards.
 
If the vehicle does not or cannot meet the applicable NFPA Standards 1917-2013, we will be unable to fund the project. The loan application cannot be processed unless corrective work is performed and completed which brings the vehicle into compliance.
 
Fire Apparatus Standard Certification
The Rules & Regulations for the Volunteer Loan Assistance Program requires certification of any new fire apparatus to comply with the applicable Standard for Automotive Fire Apparatus in existence at the time the contract to purchase the apparatus was signed.
 
The Rules & Regulations were amended on June 25, 1999, establishing the 1991 NFPA Standard for fire apparatus as the base standard for used and rehabed apparatus.  Currently used vehicles must meet 1901-1999 NFPA Standards.
 
The vehicle manufacturer or authorized agent will be required to submit a letter with the application to guaranty, certify and warrant that the vehicle meets or exceeds the applicable standards. A sample NFPA Apparatus Certification Letter is provided.
 
If the vehicle does not or cannot meet the applicable NFPA Standards, we will be unable to fund the project. The loan application cannot be processed unless corrective work is performed and completed which brings the vehicle into compliance.
